As a member of the Group of Seven, Arthur Lismer was an important Canadian painter and art educator. In 1925, he was commissioned by Humberside’s Literary Society to paint a mural for the school’s new auditorium. Work began on the first panel in 1927 after the school had raised the necessary funds. In 1932, the final panel was installed.
