A Public School Class at the Art Gallery
The Art Gallery of Ontario and Toronto Schools
In 1930, semi-annual visits to the Art Gallery of Toronto (later the Art Gallery of Ontario) for all Grades 7 and 8 public school students were initiated. A teacher appointed by the Toronto Board of Education toured the children and interpreted the works of exhibitions of the time. The popular program saw as many as 25,000 students a year. Today, the Art Gallery of Ontario continues its relationship with school boards through innovative programming and school visits.
