    Half-Day Classes for Some Students

Toronto’s special education classes for children with disabilities or learning difficulties—some of the very first classes of this type anywhere in Canada—date from 1910. That year, Toronto school authorities opened half-day classes for so-called “mentally defective” boys and girls at Grace Street Public School, Essex Public School, George Street Public School, and Elizabeth Street Public School.
