Grammar School Inspector for Canada West

In 1865, a Grammar School Bill was passed that was intended to bring about some important changes in the way that grammar schools were funded and managed. The need for these changes was outlined in a series of reports that George Paxton Young wrote as Grammar School Inspector for Canada West. Young, who held that position from 1864 to 1867, was highly critical of the quality of instruction, the facilities and the local management of these institutions.
