1852 Early Physical Education

  • Boys' Gym at Humberside Collegiate

    Gymnasiums

    In 1862, the Committee on School Management recommended to the Board that $30 be appropriated for each school to construct gymnasiums. It was deemed that this would allow for the proper instruction of what was termed Physical Culture. The recommendation however, was denied due to lack of funds.
